Canada Passport Considered Powerful According to Report

Passports not only symbolize your country of origin and is a document to travel abroad, they also hold relevance in terms of their ranking compared to other passports, analogous to trophies.

According to the Arton Capital Passport Index (online Passport Index which indicates significance and power of each passport), passports are ranked based on their total visa-free score along with visas which might be required upon arrival to the destination. Their website rolled out the October 2020 ranking and Canada sits nicely on the fourth spot. Netherlands, Denmark, Portugal, Lithuania, Norway, Iceland, United Kingdom also enjoy the same position like Canada.

The list has been tailored in accordance to the response towards the pandemic by each country. New Zealand sits at the top and gives visa-upon-arrival access to 129 destinations. Canada on the other hand is a strong contender as well with access to 126 destinations.

Before the pandemic hit, the number for Canada was 183 destinations alongside Australia. It fit snugly with Australia sharing space on the 9th spot, which signifies its strength compared to the rest of the world. United States like Singapore, UAE et cetera, earlier enjoyed visa-free access to Europe. But the picture isn’t pretty for the States now as it has gained low mobility scores with a drop of more than 80 points.

With its position amongst the strongest in the updated online ranking system for October 2020, Canadian passport provides perks in terms of accessibility and overall good standing.
